BBQ Captain (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is built privacy-first. This policy explains how the app handles your data. The short version: your cooking data stays on your device, and we don’t run a server that collects it.
Everything you create in the app — your cooks, temperature readings, notes, photos, custom profiles, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage. We do not operate a backend that receives this data, and it is never transmitted to us.
BBQ Captain offers a one-time “Pro” in-app purchase. Purchases are processed by Apple. To deliver and restore your Pro entitlement, we use RevenueCat, Inc. as our purchase infrastructure. RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information associated with an anonymous, randomly generated identifier. This information is used solely to validate and restore your purchase. It is not linked to your name or identity, and it is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
The app may schedule local notifications on your device — for example, when to put your meat on, phase and spritz reminders, or a rest timer. These are generated locally on your device and are not routed through any server of ours.
If you attach a photo to a cook (a Pro feature), it is copied into the app’s private storage on your device. Photos are not uploaded anywhere.
The app is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any changes.
